INVITATION TO MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMY OF COGNITIVE THERAPY

Dear ACT Members:
I would like to offer members of the Academy of Cognitive Psychotherapy a one-time reduced membership fee ($50 for 1-year and $100 for 2-year membership) to join the International Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy. This offer is valid for ACT members who are not yet members of the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy.

The International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy (IACP) is a professional, scientific, interdisciplinary organization whose mission is to facilitate the utilization and growth of cognitive psychotherapy as a professional activity and scientific discipline. In addition, the Association serves as a resource and information for matters related to cognitive psychotherapy. The Honorary President of the Association is Dr. Aaron T. Beck, M.D., University Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, and President of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research in suburban Philadelphia.

Membership is open to professionals and students in disciplines such as psychology, psychiatry, social work, medicine, dentistry, rehabilitation, guidance, pastoral counseling, general medical practice, counseling and education. The three classes of membership are: Full Voting Individual Membership, based on the completion of the appropriate professional degree designated for practice in one’s specialty; Group Membership, open to national or international associations as a group; and Student Membership, available to individuals enrolled in a program of study leading to a professional degree. Benefits vary depending on type of membership. Prospective members can choose single or multiple-year memberships.

Membership benefits include:
        (1) a free subscription to the International Journal of Cognitive Therapy
        (2) a free subscription to the Cognitive Therapy Newsletter
        (3) listing in the yearly membership directory
        (4) option for listing in the online referral directory
        (5) access to the IACP Listserve
        (6) access to state-of-the-art audio workshops on the web. The audio workshops are presented by experts and include discussions on a wide range of topics and disorders

Membership benefits also include:
        (7) voting rights
        (8) discounts to conferences sponsored by IACP
        (9) discounts with car rental businesses such as Avis and Hertz
        (10) discounts on book purchases from major book publishers

Instructions for taking advantage of the special promotion

1. Go to the application page (http://www.cognitivetherapyassociation.org/application.aspx)
2. Fill out the application.
3. At the end of the application, which it says "Additional Comments" enter "ACT promotion". You must do this to receive the promotion.
The total cost to you as shown on the page will not reflect the discount. However, the discount will be applied after your application has been received. If you have any questions, email Lata McGinn at IACPmembership@yahoo.com.
